Multi-cultural Classrooms
The Centre for Research in International Education is pleased to announce its Sixth Biennial Conference
The topic allows for a number of possible streams, including:
- Learner and teacher cultural perspectives and associated expectations - mismatch and reconciliation
- Using the cultural knowledge/experience of students to contribute to the international classroom
- Overcoming passive learning experiences and stimulating active participation
- Curriculum and assessment design to accommodate the international context
- Study skills advising
- Needs identification
Keynote speaker
Dr Geneva Gay, Professor in Curriculum & Instruction, College of Education, University of Washington.
Dr Gay teaches multicultural education and general curriculum theory. The many awards she has received include a Distinguished Scholar Award from the American Educational Research Association and she was the first recipient of the Multicultural Educator Award. She is a member of several US editorial review and advisory boards and consults internationally on multicultural education.
